Transportation

Hey there! Some tips about how to reach Cremona.

Depending on your landing airports, there are two main options:

  • Via Milano: for those flying to Malpensa (MXP) or Linate (LIN)
    • From MXP to Milan: Take one of the many bus lines or shuttles or the train Malpensa Express headed to Milano Stazione Centrale FS. There are options to buy train roundtrips online for €20, otherwise single tickets are €13; buses are a bit cheaper but traffic can be insane (we mean, really insane: welcome to Italy after all!). The train trip lasts about 50 minutes.
    • From LIN to Milan: Take one of the bus lines to Milano Stazione Centrale FS. The fastest one is €6, the others are cheaper (€1.50) but take longer. Linate airport is very close to the city and the bus trip should not take longer than 30 minutes. IMPORTANT: If you take the line that makes the stop at the suburban railway station of Milano Lambrate, you can get off there and wait for the train to Cremona; this will save you a good half hour in total. Otherwise, you can just go to the Stazione Centrale.
    • From Milan to Cremona: There are eight direct regional trains leaving every day from Milan Central Railway Station to Cremona (final destination of the train: Mantova). Departure times are: 8:20; 10:20; 12:20; 14:20; 16:20; 17:15; 18:20; 19:15. It takes a little more than one hour to reach Cremona from Milan on a direct train. Other non-direct trains take almost two hours. The price ticket is €7.70. For information on tickets, go to http://www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en It looks like it is not possible to book these tickets now for March, so you will have to wait until few weeks before the conference to purchase them online. Otherwise, it is possible to buy tickets directly at the station (automats or ticket office). It is NOT possible to purchase tickets on the train.
  • Via Brescia: for those flying to Milano/Bergamo – Orio al Serio (BGY)
    • 1. From BGY to Brescia: Take one of the bus lines or shuttles to Brescia Stazione Centrale (there are different options: e.g. 1 or 2). Prices start from €8 and round trips can be cheaper. Time of the journey, about 1 hour.
    • 2. From Brescia to Cremona: Regional trains from Brescia Central Railway Station to Cremona depart every hour at :40 and take 58 minutes. The price ticket is €5.50. For information on tickets, go to http://www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en It looks like it is not possible to book these tickets now for March, so you will have to wait until few weeks before the conference to purchase them online.
